Cuban-style Daiquiri

Think Hemingway, not your frozen spring break daiquiri.  The daiquiri has its origins in 1980s Cuba and as the perfect mix of boozy, tart, sweet, it remains a popular island drink. .

Ingredients

1 1/2 oz light or white rum
1 oz lime juice
1/2 oz simple syrup or maple syrup
Lime slice for garnish
Brandied cherry, for garnish

Cuban-style Daiquiri Directions

  1. Shake the rum, lime juice and syrup alone.
  2. Add ice and shake again until chilled.
  3. Strain into a cocktail glass.
  4. Garnish with lime slice.
